A New Need for Breastmilk
Thanks to everyone who came to this year's picnic, bringing pregnant
bellies, babies, children, food, and family updates! We had a great time
catching up on everyone's news and marveling at how fast the birth center's
little alumni have grown. We feel truly blessed to know you all.

Thanks also to everyone who brought donations of various kinds, big and
small. A roll of kitchen towel donated by a client is so much more precious
than one we haul back from Costco ourselves! But the Costco run itself will
be less painful than usual, due to the incredible number of Costco cash
cards that were donated. Thank you.
Setup and cleanup for the picnic is usually a lot of work.....but it was
made much easier by the many hands volunteering. And thanks to everyone who
took a turn at grilling too.
We would like to give particular thanks to Leanne Norby who brought her
PitterPats business to the picnic and worked hard all afternoon making foot
and hand prints of babies and kids. Not only was this a convenient way for families to make such lovely mementos,
but Leanne also
donated 50% of the proceeds to the birth center. Thanks so much Leanne! (By
the way, Leanne has a continuing program where she donates 15% of all orders
received from birth center clients, so if you missed the chance to get one
at the picnic, contact her at
leanne@pitterpatsNW.com.)
Picnic Lost and Found
There were a handful of "Lost and Found" items at the end of the picnic.
Please call the birth center or email
Grace@birthcenter.com if you own any of
these:

Did you realize
that you will change your baby’s diaper approximately 8760 times and your
baby will spend over 25,000 hours in diapers? If you use disposable diapers,
that equates to literally a ton of diapers into our landfills. Compare that
to about 40 cloth diapers that can then be passed on to another child.
Today’s modern cloth diapers don’t have the harsh chemicals and are much
gentler on baby’s bum practically eliminating diaper rash. Without pins,
dunking and swishing diapers, or using plastic pants! I’ll have samples of
many different types/brands of diapering systems and will demonstrate and
explain the different components and how to use each one. This class will be
informative and helpful as you make the best choice for your family!
Today’s reusable diapers are:
-
convenient
-
easy to clean,
care for, and use
-
trim fitting &
no messy leaks
-
gentler on
your baby & on the earth
-
can save you
$2,000!
The first class will be held Saturday, September 23rd at 10:00am at the
Puget Sound Birth Center.
Cost: $10 per family.

"There is a new mom who
delivered at the birth center last week who is unable to produce milk to
feed her baby. As can be expected, she is deeply saddened by this. She
approached me to ask about breast milk donations after our success with
feeding Gabriel this way, and so I write this to you.
If anyone is willing to pump a bit extra or donate any surplus from your
freezer please contact me and I will connect you with Tonya, Noah and baby
Izabelle Rose.
As an aside, Gabriel is now 10 months old and still thriving
thanks to now 43 generous women!"
