Amanda Ferre (née Engholm), MSM, LM CPM
I was born in Pasadena, CA and raised in Granite Falls, WA. There I worked as a certified nursing assistant at various facilities in hospitals and nursing homes. It was this type of work where I discovered my passion for helping others. I joined the Air Force in 2007 to be of service and during my time I was stationed at JBLMcChord AFB where I obtained 2 Associates Degrees.
I became captivated by pregnancy and birth after having my first child in 2014. I immediately felt called and decided to pursue birth work. I attended training to become a doula and childbirth educator in 2015, was accepted into Bastyr University’s midwifery program in 2016 and graduated with a Master’s of Science in Midwifery and Botanical Medicine in 2019.
I have attended hundreds of births and more than 4000 clinical visits. Each one as beautiful as the first. The last few years I have spent providing midwifery care at a local birth center.
In my free time, I enjoy being with my son and my husband, being outdoors, and serving with my church community. I also enjoy snowboarding during the winter months at several ski resorts throughout Washington. My love for the outdoors includes hiking, camping, swimming, and exploring new areas.
I take every opportunity to listen to and educate clients, co-workers and friends on everything involving pregnancy and childbirth! My passion for midwifery grows stronger each day as I create bonds with the families I serve. I am excited to be back at Puget Sound Birth Center where it all started for me as a student midwife so many years ago. I am at home here with the Eastside Midwives and look forward to seeing both familiar and new faces.
